Description
The Eccles Cake is a traditional English cake; it is named after the town of its origin. It is not known who conceived the Eccles Cake, but a chap by the name of James Birch was the first person to sell them commercially, way back in 1793.
Real Lancashire Eccles Cakes are round pastry cakes, jam packed with juicy currants, real butter and sugar. These sweet pastries are best served warm, perhaps with a dollop of butter and jam.
